BOOK REVIEW: Heaven Is For Real

I got this book Heaven is for Real from booksneeze to review. I read this book in about 1 1/2 hrs. The book is written by the father Todd Burpo with help from Colton. Colton was almost four when he had a bursted appendix that poisoned his little body for 5 days. This little boy went to Heaven!! He seen Jesus!! This book is so amazing and touching. At first, I was like yeah whatever. After reading it, I am like WOW!!! Some of the things this little boy says could only come from someone who has been there. I believe this child went to Heaven. I was in awe to hear details of Jesus and God and how they looked. His candid comments about other people he seen in Heaven and the things he witnessed, made me believe everything this child says he saw. His child like descriptions are so heart warming. It was so nice to read about the faith of this family and the belief these parents had in their son. I appreciate that the father tried not to ask leading questions and actually quoted the boy. It was an awesome read and I can't wait to share this in my Sunday school class. Give it a chance....read it.....you will be awestruck!!!

Book Review: From My Husbands View!!!

I was supposed to review Ascent from Darkness by Michael Leehan. However, my husband snagged the book first! He read the whole book in a 7 hour slot. Not, like my hubby at all. So my review is based on a man's view. The book is a true story of a Satanist who turned into God's Soldier! He found the book almost unbelievable in the beginning with the blood sacrifices and other violent behaviors. But, as the book went on he became more engrossed at the torment this man went through as he turned away from Satan. He had visions of demons all around him, loss jobs, his home, and almost himself. But he pulls through it all by leaning on God. He begged forgiveness from God and was saved from Hell. God's grace and this man's faith in his Savior, gave him back his life!! Now, he is a soldier for the Lord!! My husband was amazed and in awe of one man's journey from Hell to Salvation by the grace of our Lord! He does however, feel that with the content and violence in the book that it needs to be labeled for mature adults as some content is very disturbing. That said, he gives it a high 4 star. He would give it a five if it addressed the content and maturity level of the book so parents were aware before allowing their teens to read it.

To Review or Not to Review.........

Ok. I am supposed to be reviewing this book entitled "Our Last Great Hope" by Ronnie Floyd. Problem is I am not getting into it at all. The concept is great. Go and spread the Good News around the world; to all the places where God and his son are unknown. Mr. Floyd writes with passion about his God and the message that must be shared. However, for me it is the same thing I have read before, and heard about at church......GO!! Make Disciples!! I get it, but somehow I am not getting it. I understand the author's urgent need to share the Good News with every person he possibly can, his need to make the rest of us as passionate as he, and his desire to obey God. But, in a book? Not working for me. Our churches and our people are failing The Great Commission. The author pushes you to see and realize what we must do as Christians if we are to be good and faithful servants, but without a severe push by our own churches and congregations, I feel we will fail. We read books, they move us, but once they are shelved we forget. I just don't feel moved by this book. All in all it is a good book, and I am sure for some it will be moving; for me however it was the same old thing and rather dry.

First Day Of School

Well, the school day went way too quick. I didn't realize how much she actually retained. She was done in 1 1/2 hours and that includes character video and art!!!! She wasn't thrilled with tracing her name, but she did it. I tried to get her to take a break, but she refused. Now she is pouting because school is done. I gave her some extra worksheets and it still isn't enough. I can't wait till we get to a spot where she can't speed through it!!!!

 All in all, I give our first day a 10!!

New Start

Starting fresh. Starting PreK4 tomorrow and trying to get on with Booksneeze. Then I can read and review!!! I will blog after school!!!!

Birbitt

My friend....who goes by birbitt....says I need to blog more. So here it is just for her.
I have decided that I am a flailing Christian. This means that I am good at the talk but not so much with the showing. I plan to work on this. I will be sure to keep everyone updated on my goodness or lack there of.  Keep coming back for more weirdness.......creepy.....haha
